The Project Management Office – PMO
The Project management Office – PMO was created in 2019 under the umbrella of the European/International Post-Award Unit. This Unit runs a portfolio of more than 50 projects (mainly from European Commission), 10 of which are coordinated by our institution. The PMO offers support to Principal Investigators (PI) in several areas of scientific and project management, such as project management, scientific coordination, support in ethics and regulatory issues, communication, social innovation, impact management, financial issues and reporting. The mission of the PMO is to accompany the researcher in a professionalized manner by offering support in the areas of scientific and project management. The ultimate goal is that the projects are implemented with the quality standards required by our institution and funding agencies, fulfilling the expectations of the research team and the collaborating entities.
The candidate will be integrated in the PMO and shall be responsible for the effective implementation of the assigned projects, specially dedicated to those tasks related to social innovation activities such as design and implementation of co-creation and participatory activities, monitoring and evaluation during project lifecycle, knowledge valorization, impact evaluation and communication and dissemination.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Fundació Sant Joan de Déu opens a Pre-Award Manager position to join Sant Joan de Déu SOCIAL INNOVA program, linked to the European/International Pre-award Unit.
SJD SOCIAL INNOVA is a cross-cutting program that promotes and contributes to the generation of transformative social innovation projects in SJD's social and healthcare centres.
The program accompanies the centres from the identification of the idea or challenge, to the design and construction of competitive projects, establishing the impact narrative.
The program also provides support during the implementation of the awarded projects in tasks related to social innovation (participation and co-creation), measurement and impact management to promote social transformation.
The person we are looking for will be responsible of assisting project leaders working in the social area of Sant Joan de Déu Centres in securing competitive funds (mainly European or International) for research and innovation related activities that offer new evidence based solutions to the realities that they attend to on a daily basis. He/she will ensure that all project applications are delivered to a high standard and in compliance with funder regulations and internal policies. The final objective of this position is to maximize the value and impact of these projects to Sant Joan de Déu ecosystem in terms of research outputs, outcomes, dissemination and impact.
The main calls that will be worked with are those of the European Comission, such as: “EU Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI)”, “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme (CERV)”, “Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF)”, “Horizon Europe” and “Erasmus+”. However, other sources of national and international funding will also be explored, when applicable to the ideas/projects identified.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
1) Internal scouting: to be aware of the activity of the different social innovation stakeholders within Sant Joan de Déu ecosystem. Getting to know their ideas, their needs and their project portfolio.
2) External scouting: in-depth knowledge of appropriate funding framework for the interests and needs of the centres in social innovation (European, International, National, Regional), and to keep up to date. Identify and propose future trends in this field.
3) Project application: to promote SJD stakeholders participation in competitive calls suitable for the ideas identified and to give professional support for the preparation of the proposals:
4) Networking and positioning activities: identification and follow-up of networks, actions and initiatives that may represent a strategic opportunity for both the Institution and the project leaders. Attendance at conferences, information sessions, partnering events and meetings of interest with funding agencies.
5) Capacity building and collaboration: organization of information seminars for project leaders. Organization of co-creation workshops to identify new and collaborative projects between different centres. Community management.
6) Implementation: keep up to date of the activities developed in the portfolio of awarded projects and use that information to build new synergies and project ideas.
7) Governance: participate in the internal commitees of SJD SOCIAL INNOVA program. Participate in the International Projects Office’s transversal activities.
We are looking for a person to join the Pre-Award International Unit of Fundació Sant Joan de Déu. The mission of the team is to support the elaboration of competitive proposals to European and International funding agencies securing competitive funds for research and innovation related activities conducted at SJD centers, mainly Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu.
The person will be responsible for assisting Sant Joan de Déu researchers in securing competitive European or International funds for research and innovation related activities overseeing all pre-award activities, including proposal development, budgeting, compliance, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. He/she will ensure that all the projects are delivered to a high standard and in compliance with funder regulations and internal policies. The final objective of this position is to maximize the value of these projects to Sant Joan de Déu ecosystem in terms of research outcomes, outputs, dissemination and impact.
This position focuses on European Commission calls, ranging from Horizon Europe, EU4Health Programme, Erasmus+, CERV, among others, but also including other European and International public and private sources of funding such as US-NIH or private foundations.

He/she should be creative, flexible, empathic, and oriented to problem solving. We search for a professional with good communication and teamwork skills. The International Post-Award Unit includes a Project Management Office (PMO) offering support to Principal Investigators from IRSJD and other researchers from Sant Joan de Déu ecosystem in project coordination. Our project manager’s team provides daily scientific, technical and managerial support to Principal Investigators to help them in successfully develop their international projects.
The candidate will be integrated in the PMO and shall be responsible for the effective implementation of the assigned projects ranging from Health to Social field.
